Puma kicks off New York Fashion Week with an ode to the past: “Welcome To The Amazing Mostro Show” read the signage as guests like Emily Ratajkowski, Ashley Graham, Hari Nef, and Becky G made their entrance through the historic Park Avenue Armory. The utopian underworld carnival, combined with electronic industrial pop sounds from Eartheater, set the stage for what would be the main source of inspiration for Creative Director Heiko Desens—a transformative return for the 1999 Mostro sneaker.
Black, white, and silver seemed to dominate the runway, with the occasional pops of color in purple, neon yellow, and crimson red. Despite these inventive and highly functional designs that encapsulate a futuristic elevated sportswear aesthetic, the real star of the show was the Mostro sneaker. In every look, the sneaker made an appearance with its signature spiked sole and versatile strapped closure in a variety of colorways while racing-inspired silhouettes paid homage to the Puma x F1 collaboration.
