5 Key Takeaways From Saint Laurent’s Fall/Winter 2024 Collection – CR Fashion Book

Since Marilyn Monroe first stepped out in her iconic ‘naked’ gown, the concept of the ‘naked dress’ has been a critical fashion statement. In the ‘90s Carrie Bradshaw donned an infamous naked dress in Sex And The City and at the 2022 Met Gala, Kim Kardashian resurrected Monroe’s legendary piece from the archives. The naked gown has been a frequent reference for Saint Laurent and this Fall/Winter 2024 season, the house is taking the garment to the next level, reflecting its essence through an array of sheer ensembles.

With this collection, Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello looks to the concept of transparency, bridging the gap between garments and the body and toeing the line between pure and provocative. Ensembles tie together adventure and fragility, agency and desire, and fluidity and stability, contrasting sheer material with heavy brazen glass and heavy Marabou furs. The result is a commentary on the nature of femininity and an unmasking of the pure in the provocative.
