One of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the country started the 2023 season with a bang last night.
Willis (Texas) five-star quarterback DJ Lagway scored eight touchdowns The 52:21 victory of his team on Friday on the road via Rudder (Texas). Lagway (6-foot-2, 225 pounds) finished the game with a 21/23 line for 436 yards, eight touchdowns (7 passes, 1 rushing) and a 169.8 QB rate. What’s even more impressive is that Lawgay’s stats were only in one half.

The biggest beneficiary of Lagway’s great play was Wildcats wide receiver Debruan Hampton, who had five catches, 121 yards and three goals. Next week, Willis meets Temple, Texas at home on Friday night.
For next season, Lagway has committed to Florida and is the third-best recruit in a packed 2024 vintage, currently ranking third nationally.
