Instagram recently announced that it is testing ad placement in search results. Not only that, the social media platform owned by Meta also intends to create ads in another new format, namely in the form of “reminders” for its users.
In a blog post, Instagram said experimentation with ads in search results is underway with some advertisers. They plan to launch it globally in the coming months.
These ads will later appear in the list of results when users search for something in the Instagram search field. For example, you are searching for a specific food on Instagram. Therefore, the account of the store that sells food will appear in the search results as a recommendation.
Meanwhile, “reminder” ads are called Instagram as a solution for businesses to advertise, remind and notify users of events or launches they are holding, which may be of interest to users.
Simply put, it is a promotional ad with a special “reminder” feature. Users will have the option if they want to be reminded by Instagram when a promoted event or launch is about to begin.
This move is not new to Instagram. In recent years it seems like they really want to keep adding as many ad slots as possible on their platform. Ads on Instagram can be seen everywhere, from Home, Discovery, Reels, and even in the user profile section.
