Miami Hurricanes get surprise signing of 5-star trade WR Joshisa

In the final weeks of the 2024 recruiting cycle, there have been some unexpected commitments from top prospects.

We got another one Thursday night when five-star wide receiver Joshisa “Jojo” Trader of Chaminade-Madonna, Fla., announced his signing in Miami, Fla.

Merchant (1.80 m, 175 pounds) had offers from 30 other programs including Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and LSU.

Early in his hiring, Trader told 247Sports that Miami feels like family.

“It’s like a brotherhood down there… It’s like a family. I can relate to a lot of people down there and stuff like that. When you play together as a team, it really gets better… I feel like they have a good group together now. They did a good job recruiting me and I can’t wait to see what they do this season.”

Over the past two seasons, Trader has totaled 73 catches, 1,335 receiving yards and scoring 13 touchdowns. He also did some work on the other side of the ball, notching two interceptions.

No one is ranked higher in Trader than ESPN, where he is ranked No. 3 in the position and No. 4 overall in the state of Florida and No. 11 nationally in the 2024 vintage.
Incoming trade makes 17 tough commitments So far for Miami’s 2024 class, which ranks 16th nationally.
