“We have a very cool relationship. He trusts me a lot, And I trust him too,” Boguslawski said. “Working with him is just literally such a pleasure. It’s a gift just to be around him and be able to collaborate with this man. And I really believe it’s a privilege to enjoy the magic he creates.”
For the Spring/Summer 2024 haute couture show, Galliano and Boguslawski spent an immersive week developing looks and characters, to evoke a dreamy, cold, and sensual ambiance while maintaining a touch of darkness. “In this specific show, it just kind of all clicked and all made sense because of the music, location, looks, makeup, hair: everything. It was just so inspiring,” he said.
Each model represents a unique character, which required Boguslawski to navigate a range of emotions and ideas during the creative process. Among the models included English actress Gwendoline Christie, who closed the show in a silicone-coated, white silk taffeta dress over a blue-and-white striped corset.
“It’s so amazing to work with such a professional actress. [Christie] really gives you 100 percent with whatever she does,” he said. “She’s so inspiring and such a beautiful human. Working with her was such a pleasure.”
Bog was overjoyed to see the world’s reaction to the runway show, glad to see the world is ready for boundary-pushing fashion and theatricality. “It just felt like we broke some rules. It feels like people are finally ready for that moment in fashion,” he said. “Everyone is hungry for models to become different characters on the runway, and not just having a simple walk like mannequins.”
