Now #Munjya… A well-packaged movie that works for most parts… Interesting concept + CGI generated creature are its biggest strengths… Watch it! Director #AdityaSarpotdar executes the difficult subject material with maturity, garnishing the goings-on with some neatly executed VFX and chills-and-thrills

Yogesh Chandekar has written an unusual story about the beliefs and superstitions of a village in Maharashtra. The story is very interesting and has its share of chills and thrills. Yogesh Chandekar has penned an exciting screenplay, with additional screenplay by Niren Bhatt. The screenplay moves at a fast pace and keeps the audience involved right from the word ‘go’. The horror drama is laced with a lot of light moments which come as a refreshing change. The last part of the drama is excellent. On the whole, Munjya is an entertaining fare and will keep the distributors happy.

Munjya is the sort of film that you want off your back as desperately as Bittu wants Munjya off his! It outlives its welcome well before it is into its second half. It is easy to see that a great deal of effort has gone into its making. What it yields is hardly commensurate.

‘Munjya’ comes from the makers of ‘Stree’ and ‘Bhediya’, with their very Maddock mix of comedy-and-supernatural-horror, the former doing a better job of it than the latter, but both leaving an impact.Sadly, ‘Munjya’ is neither funny-haha, nor does it make you want to look under your seat, despite its liberal use of jump-scares, and a CGI ghoul.

The movie leaves some questions unanswered, and certain elements fail to add up. Nevertheless, the atmospheric setting, hilarious moments, and engaging performances make it an entertaining watch, especially for viewers seeking a horror-comedy experience with a youthful energy. Don’t forget to stay after the credits for a surprise appearance.

All in all, Munjya beautifully draws inspiration by blending elements of horror and cultural depth to weave a story that is both enthralling and deeply rooted in Indian mythology. The movie delivers a good cinematic experience owing to its good writing and the gripping folklore. It is a clean entertainer. It has family-friendly written all over it and has all the elements of a typical commercial horror comedy. This is a must-watch for anyone interested in folklore and horror storytelling.

Film aces in the technical departments, especially in VFX, camera and SFX with crisp editing. Talking about the performances, everyone in the cast has done a splendid job but it’s a VFX character of Munjya, who has stolen the show. Munjya is a theatrical experience and deserves a watch for its novelty and authenticity.

Those who are looking for a full-blown horror movie (think Conjuring, The Exorcist), might be in for a disappointment because the jokes and gags tend to dilute the horror in this 123-minute-long film. Munjya (the film) over-compensates for its scares with too-many light-hearted moments. It works well nonetheless but don’t expect Stree-level perfection from it. Here’s hoping India’s Maddock Supernatural Universe (MSU) grows with similar tales rooted in folklores.
