Ruthy Hebard is heating up.
The fourth-year WNBA forward out of Fairbanks has scored 16 points in her last two games for the Chicago Sky – her best two-game scoring stretch in two years.
Hebard pumped in nine points last night against Seattle in the Windy City after netting seven points earlier in the week against the Storm in the Emerald City as the teams played a home-and-home series.
This was the most points for her in back-to-back games since late June 2021, when she had eight points at Dallas and nine points at Connecticut. That same season she helped the Sky win the WNBA title.
A lot has changed for the 25-year-old since then.
Last season she played behind Hall of Famer Candance Parker and this year she gave birth to her first child in the offseason.
Hebard got a late start to the season and missed her team’s first 18 games; however, since her return the 6-foot-4 Alaskan has settled in nicely and looked like her old self.
She’s also rekindled her scoring touch.

Hebard, a former NCAA First Team All-American and 2,000-point scorer at Oregon, had three of her four career double-doubles in 2021 and was a key part of a championship team. She averaged a career-best 16.8 minutes, 5.8 points and 4.4 rebounds in 30 games.
Her 173 points in 2021 were third most by an Alaskan in a single season and her 132 rebounds were fifth best.
Then the team brought in Parker, who played the same position as Hebard and ate up most of minutes at that spot. Her production dropped and she never found her rhythm, going scoreless in half of her 24 appearances.
Already this year you can see a difference.
In her third game back on July 20, she grabbed six rebounds against Phoenix – the most since June of last season when she matched that number in back-to-back games against Indiana and Atlanta. She followed that up with her most production two-game scoring total in two years.
Year 4 💛 Here’s to new beginnings, to hard times and the best of times. To making you proud and growing together. My sunshine, I am so excited God picked me to be your mom 💕 pic.twitter.com/0peWVPapZ6
