Over the years, 7th on Sixth gained international recognition as one of the “Big Four” fashion weeks, along with London, Milan and Paris. It attracted well-known designers, celebrities, fashion editors and buyers from all over the world, cementing its status as a major fashion event. Many of the world’s most prominent designers debuted their first collections at this prestigious event.
Marc Jacobs’ debut Spring/Summer 1987 collection drew attention for its grunge-inspired and avant-garde designs emblematic of the era’s punk rock decadence. He incorporated elements such as oversized silhouettes, layers and unusual fabric combinations, embracing a rebellious and non-conformist spirit that challenged traditional fashion norms at the time. One of the standout pieces from Jacobs’ debut collection was a granny dress, which was reimagined with unconventional detail and style.
